Latin Language for Dental Students Practice
Description and purpose
The aim of the course is to evolve a basic language skill for general usage of scientific vocabulary in order to learn health sciences and work in the health-care system. Moreover, the students may acquire the basic medical and dental terminology in connection with the Latin and the Greek languages. By completing the course, the students will study the basic concepts of Latin linguistics, as well as study different groups of medical terms and text types (medical reports, prescriptions, basic concepts of anatomy and pathophysiology, etc.). Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to translate and compose medical Latin texts and technical terms.

a, Latin alphabet and pronunciation; b, General grammatical terms and parts of speech; c, Dictionary forms and roots; d, Usage of declensions in case of nouns; e, Usage of declensions in case of adjectives f, Rule of agreement and adjective phrase and the neutral rule; g, Possessive and adjective phrases combined

a, Greek and Latin suffixes and prefixes and words with the parallel meaning, b, General terms of human body and organs with reappearing collective anatomical names (e.g. muscle, nerve etc.) c, Basic terms of the skeletal system d, General terms of the oral cavity e, Basic words for structure of the tooth f, Oral cavity and tooth diseases
